BBC News - India's economic growth under 'threat' from inflation

Food price inflation is going to play havoc with the livelihoods of poor in South Asia. Poorly managed food supply chains are partly responsible for uncontrolled food inflation in South Asia. Extreme weather, floods and droughts, have not helped either.

It will not merely be the economic growth, but the very survival of the poor that may be thereatned by the uncontrolled inflation in the near future.
